Me being me

— This is an old post transferred from my « » blog —

“What difference do you want to make in this world?” I was asked.

To answer that question, I will start with the “how”. How can I make a difference in this world? How can anyone make a difference? My answer is: by being ourselves. Our. True. Selves. So I may not know exactly what difference I want to make, but I know that the best way to do so is to be myself, completely, boldly, everyday.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not an easy task. It was easy when we were 2 years old, but somewhere along the way, we forgot. We forgot how to behave like natural human beings, we forgot our true nature. Isn’t is silly? We were born with that! We weren’t born with a facebook username and password, or with some cool title to put on a business card. We were born naked, and yet all we really need was all there, inside.

I am too, very corrupted by my passage through this world, but I’m not going to blame the world for it. My homework, as a responsible human being, is to find back my true nature. Nobody stole it from me, I don’t need to fight for my claim. What I need to do is let go of all unnecessary junk, clean the clutter of my life, in a respectful and loving manner. To help the fog lighten up, the noise cancel out, the taste buds refresh… so all my senses can remember. Remember who they are.

This is my goal, my mission, my promise. Even though I don’t succeed every day, I promise to do my very best at being myself. (which btw, was also our wedding vows!)

Be afraid if you feel like it, be expressive if you feel like it, be shy if you feel like it, be angry if you feel like it, be romantic if you feel like it, be vulnerable if you feel like it, be whatever whenever you feel like it. Be you, and I will be me, and the world will be a better place.

Thanks for being you!
